Additional information
Enlisted 14 February 1915 and embarked at Wellington 1 May 1916 to arrive Suez 9/6/1916. Employed in New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment & Base Depot until 20 January 1917 when he was posted to the New Zealand Mounted Field Ambulance and was appointed cook from 1 May 1915 to 30 June 1918.
On 1 July 1918 he was recommended for a commission specifically for the Rarotongan Company and underwent training and from 26/9/1918 was a 2nd Lieutenant with the Rarotongan Company.
Discharged 7 March 1919. Fluent in oral and written Māori and employed as a Māori school teacher for four years prior to enlistment.
