Enlisted 1 July 1916 and disembarked at the Suez 27 December 1916. Posted to the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment and Base Depot. Joined the Rarotongan Company 7 April 1917. Admitted to 33rd Casualty Clearing Station at Jaffa 17 August 1918 and transferred to the 24th Stationary Hospital, Kantara 20 August 1918. Transferred back to the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Depot at Moascar 22 August 1918 before rejoining the Rarotongan Company 1 October 1918. Admitted to the 26th Casualty Clearing Station 13 November 1918 with influenza. Embarked on SS Malta 14 December 1918. Discharged 20 March 1919.
