Medical student living in Blenheim, New Zealand when he enlisted 23 November 1915. Embarked at Wellington 4 February 1916. Disembarked from SS Navua 15 March 1916 and worked in the Government Hospital, Suez as an interpreter. Contracted measles and admitted to the Emergency Clearing Camp Zeitoun 31 March 1916 until 10 May 1915. Returned to New Zealand on SS Ulimaroa ex Suez on 11 June 1916 with the returning Niuean Contingent and employed as an interpreter on the ship. Arrived in New Zealand 16 July 1916 and sent to the Epsom Convalescent Home in Auckland. Posted to Narrow Neck Military Training Camp 12 August 1916 and embarked on HMNZT No.73 Opawa at Wellington 2 January 1917 and arrived Simons Town 24 February 1917 and embarked on SS Walmer Castle to disembark at Devonport, United Kingdom 27 March 1917 prior to being posted to Sling Camp and attached to the New Zealand Medical Corps. Joined the New Zealand Pioneer Battalion in France 3 September 1917. Transferred to the Rarotongan Company 14 January 1918 and embarked for Egypt 4 February 1918 where joined the Rarotongan Company 5 March 1918. Sent to hospital 5 October 1918 and admitted to 76th Casualty Clearing Station 10 October 1918 and died of pneumonia 11 October 1918. Buried Ramleh War Cemetery, Chaplain G.E. Woodmonsey officiated at the funeral.
