Attested at Rarotonga 29 September 1915. Enlisted 1 July 1916. Disembarked from SS Malwa 27 December 1916 Suez and posted to the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment and Base Depot. Admitted to the 26th Casualty Clearing Station 29 June 1917 and 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital, Kantara on 3 July 1917 and 24th Stationary Hospital, Abbassia on 4 July 1917 for the effects of heat. Admitted to 24th Stationary Hospital 26 August 1918 to 9 September 1918 with malaria. Returned as an invalid on SS Malta and discharged 20 March 1919.
