Enlisted 12 March 1918 at Narrow Neck Camp. Embarked on SS Manukau at Wellington 13 June 1918. Disembarked at Suez ex SS Port Lyttleton 4 August 1918. Posted to the Rarotongan Company 18 September 1918. From 14 October 1918 to 7 November 1918 was admitted sick to the Casualty Clearing Station and then to the 24th Stationary Hospital, Gaza. Embarked for New Zealand on SS Malta 14 December 1918 and discharged 9 July 1919.
Our team documented this grave and repainted the lettering to the grey granite military headstone with members of the Mauke community during our “Mauke Soldier Search Mission” in November 2022. You can view that series here:

His brother, Private Tuainerenga KOPUKOAO 60721 died in Rarotonga and is buried in the Nikao Cemetery, Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
