Additional information
Attested at Rarotonga 24 September 1915. Arrived at Suez 15 March 1916 and embarked for France 9 April 1916. Wounded in action (shrapnel wounds) at the battle of the Somme on 15 September 1916. Embarked and returned to New Zealand per SS Rotorua 17 November 1916. Embarked on SS Paloona from Wellington to Rarotonga 1 March 1917 and was discharged medically unfit from the 1st Rarotongan Contingent 26 March 1917. Also known as Mahoa Nahei, and under this name he re-enlisted on 12 February 1918 into the 3rd Rarotongan Contingent, but was granted leave without pay on 20 April 1918. The National Archives of the Cook Islands record that he claimed a pension in 1920.
