Attested in Tonga 8 April 1916. Embarked 29 July 1916 and disembarked Devonport, UK, on 28 September 1916. Embarked for France 10 October 1916 and posted to New Zealand Pioneer Battalion 21 October 1916. Transferred to the Rarotongan Company 14 January 1918, joined New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment & Base Depot in Moascar, Egypt 5 February 1918 and was again posted to the Rarotongan Company on 2 April 1918. Returned to New Zealand on SS Malta and discharged 10 March 1919 in New Zealand.
