Enlisted 1 July 1916 in Rarotonga and disembarked SS Malwa at Suez 27 December 1916. Posted to the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Bde Training Regiment and Base Depot. Marched out to Kantara 7 April 1917. Admitted to hospital "In the field" and at various hospitals from 18 to 27 August 1918. Transferred to Rarotongan Company 18 September 1918. Admitted to hospital from 13 to 24 October 1918. Embarked for New Zealand per SS Malta 14 December 1918 and discharged 20 March 1919.
Family confirmed in 2023 that they are organising a military headstone to be shipped to Atiu.
