We have had confirmation from family members that the correct spelling of his surname is “Simiona” as per his headstone on the grave in Atiu. His NZEF military enlistment records his surname as “Simeona” however family say that spelling is incorrect. He has a duplicate military headstone at the RSA Nikao Rarotonga with the surname spelt incorrectly as “Simeona”.
Cook Islands Roll of Honour board at RSA Nikao Rarotonga records name as 'S. Piau'.
