Enlisted 1 July 1916 at Rarotonga. Disembarked at Suez 27 December 1916 and joined the Rarotongan Company 7 April 1917. Admitted to 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital at El Arish on 13 August 1917 and transferred to 27th General Hospital 18 August 1917. Admitted to Aotea Convalescent Home from 24 August 1917 to 8 September 1917 and rejoined the Rarotongan Company 14 September 1917. Detached to 97th Heavy Battery Royal Artillery from 11 October 1917 to 9 November 1917. Admitted to 44th Stationary Hospital with diarrhoea 20 November 1917 and transferred to 27th General Hospital, Abbassia 24 November 1917 before rejoining the Company 10 December 1917.Admitted to 77th Casualty Clearing Station at Jaffa on 19 May 1918 with haemoptysis and on 22 May 1918 was transferred to 47th Stationary Hospital Gaza before being transferred to 27th General Hospital between 30 May 1918 to 5 June 1918. From 12 June 1918 to 4 July 1918 he was at a rest camp at Ismailia. Embarked on SS Malta 14 December 1918. Discharged 20 March 1919.
