Additional information
Enlisted 12 March 1918 and embarked at Wellington for Suez on 13 June 1918. Posted to the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment and Base Depot at Ismalia on 4 August 1918. Embarked on the SS Malta at Suez on 14 December 1918. Medically examined on 12 February 1919 in Wellington and was identified as a possible influenza carrier and remained in New Zealand for further treatment. Embarked on SS Moana 7 April 1919 and was discharged from the NZEF 4 June 1919.
Half a granite military headstone was located at the Nikao Cemetery in 2014. It was later identified as belonging to Pte Porini ARAPAI aka Polinahe ALAPAI 60647. Descendants ordered a new military headstone and a private plaque that were unveiled in September 2018.
