Enlisted 17 April 1915 when he, his wife and child were living in Rarotonga and joined New Zealand Field Artillery Ammunition Column. Served at Gallipoli and returned to Egypt 22 December 1915. Medically unfit and embarked for New Zealand 17 March 1916 and discharged 20 May 1916.
