Enlisted in Rarotonga 1 July 1916 and disembarked from SS Malwa at Suez 27 December 1916. Posted to the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment and Base Depot at Moascar and moved to El Arish 22 January 1917. Admitted to hospital and other Medical Units from 9 June 1918 to 23 June 1918. Discharged to Duty 25 June 1918 and transferred to the Rarotongan Company 30 July 1918. Sick to hospital 18 October 1918 and discharged to duty 23 October 1918. Embarked for New Zealand per SS Malta 14 December 1918 and discharged 20 March 1919.
Cook Islands Roll of Honour board at the RSA Rarotonga records name as 'T. VAVIA'.
Listed on the Atiu cenotaph as 'VAVIA TUORO'.
