Enlisted in Rarotonga 1 July 1916. Disembarked at Suez from SS Malwa 27 December 1916 and posted to the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment and Base Depot. Posted to Rarotongan Company 7 July 1917. Returned on SS Malta and discharged 20 March 1919.
Cook Islands Roll of Honour board at RSA Nikao Rarotonga records name as 'T. UMA'.
Listed on the Atiu cenotaph as 'TIPUTA UMA'.
