Joined the New Zealand Pioneer Battalion in France 3 September 1917. Transferred to the Rarotongan Company 14 January 1918 and embarked for Egypt 4 February 1918 where joined the Rarotongan Company 5 March 1918. Sent to hospital 5 October 1918 and admitted to 76th Casualty Clearing Station 10 October 1918 and died of pneumonia 11 October 1918. Buried Ramleh War Cemetery, Chaplain G.E.
